The Wandering Mind!
She knelt on her knees to pray; “Dear Father,” she began. “Thank you for saving me today, thank for keeping me safe” she said as she folded her hands together in the usual prayer fashion. “Dear Lord, I come to you in prayer, for this is how we communicate with you. Help me to love you more.” “Speaking about love, I just like the way Bro. J looks at his wife, see how cute and happy they are together. But, this brother I’m dating, won’t even look at me that way…” and on she went… “Ah, father see how weak Sis. F is in the place of service, please help her be strong.” “Ah! What pastor said today in church really got to me, father help me be a giver!” Then she remembered… “Dear father, help me to love you more… I want to burn for you and be like you” and off she went again. ” Lord give me money! If I had money like this, I’d give to the Glory of your name! Ah! Imagine me, walking in God’s glory, dressed as royalty to the shame of my haters! Ah father, if I had money, husband will not be scarce at all!” “Men these days want a lady that can handle her own finances. God, I’m your child too, I claim my inheritance in you! I take hold of my blessings! Abraham’s Blessings are mine!”
And off and off she kept going…
Sister T, I thought you came to the place of prayer to communicate with God? How come you’ve prayed all the desire of your flesh and forgot what actually brought you to the place of prayer!?
How does one’s mind wander so much!?
How is it that focus is so lost in the place of prayer?
To what can we blame this on? Busy day? Indecision? Laxity?
A song šµ says ” Oh Lord, set my life in order for you!”
A disordered, disorganised and disoriented mind would produce disorganised, disordered and disoriented prayers which is a form of indiscipline.
It could also sprout from wells of long-term sadness, anxiety, worry and even hiding.
One would need to ask and plead for Mercy to heal a wandering mind…
For when a mind wanders ever so far, there can be no stability and that can lead to more anxiety, sadness and more worrying.
Does your mind wander when your pray?
Practice Discipline, encourage your focus and stay away from distractions.
Then ask for Mercy and pray the prayers in the song sang by, Pastor Victoria Orenze: “Oh Lord, set my life in order!“
This is a lovely read!š
Iām glad I came across this today
God bless you
Amen! And you too.
